Wispy, airy, frothy streams drift upward and outward, floating endlessly and aimlessly on currents of air.  In Tracy Guthrie’s new collection it’s all about smoke –barely-there wisps, the angry plumes, the puffy billows, the jumpy sparks, the lingering embers.  Ethereal or aggressive, each look in this portfolio is stark, dramatic and truly smoking-haute!

“I envisioned a series of images with a very dark, dramatic and slightly stark scene,” states Redken Artist Tracy Guthrie for Chicago based Ulta Salons.  “It was important that the smoky-looking hair had that lighter-than-air wispiness but also was the whitest element in the scene.  This effect naturally draws your eye inward while the soft, glowing wisps of hair create a dance of movement.”

Tracy lightened each model with Redken Blonde Icing.  She then glazed with Redken Shades EQ 09V Platinum Ice and 000 Chrystal Clear for the hair to resemble delicate plumes of smoke.

A 1-inch InfraShine Ceramic Flat Iron and several Marcel Curling Irons (3/4-inch, 1-inch and 1.25-inch) assisted Tracy in achieving these “smoldering” looks.
