The 14th Annual International Conference in Cancun, Mexico August 27-30, 2004 brought over 3,000 attendees from 63 countries to the lavish Moon Palace Resort and Spa. Attendees consisting of distributors, sales representatives, educators, hair artists, staff, celebrities, media, special guests and royalty graced this years’ conference. Also present was co-founder of Farouk Systems, Beverly Morrison and her husband Dennis Morrison, Chief Scientist with NASA.

The theme for the 14th annual conference was “Bridging the World”, a mission of peace taken seriously by the founder and Chairman of the Board, Mr. Farouk Shami who took center stage to welcome the attendees. His mission and quest in life has been to provide his fellow hairdressers a safer work environment.   

“Together, we share the wind, the sun, the rain and our earth,” said Mr. Shami,…”we all inspire for peace, prosperity and well-being; we can accomplish this by bridging the world, loving each other and taking up the cause of peace”.  He announced plans for opening a distributorship and manufacturing plants in Egypt and China which means that within the next year Farouk Systems will be manufacturing on 4 continents and bringing the world together by working as one and achieving prosperity for many who have lived in poverty. 

Shauky Gulamani, President and the man behind the company’s extraordinary year of growth, offered not only the company’s new product launches but also its full-blown 2004 media campaign.  Dixie Pelfrey, Vice President of Shows and Education provided an overview of their plans for the upcoming year.  And, His Excellency, Mr. Akel Biltaji delivered a message from the King and Queen of Jordan reflecting the great pride and support they have for Farouk Systems’ attempt to bridge the world. 

During this event, international teams entertained the audience by presenting the Farouk show experience.  Team USA, Team Holland, Team Australia and Team Mexico offered spectacular displays of creativity combining each nation’s trends, fashion and talent under one common goal… Education, Ethics, Environment and hair artists uniting for peace.

As the conference was coming to an end, Mikko Horttana and Jason Yates presented the NEW CHI Color and awards were presented to those who have achieved outstanding sales, educational and company recognition including Joyce Strouse/Lifetime Achievement Award, Angela Leschper/Xenon Award, and Al Briscoe/Jeffrey Hess Award.
