By Katie Harrington and Laura Bania

Coachella, Newport, Lollapalooza, TomorrowWorld. Music festivals are discovery zones for the next hottest bands for sure, but they’re also a place to get a heads-up on trends in fashion and beauty. What’s more, the “festival look” has emerged as its own genre in recent years—feminine, Bohemian and romantic. Don’t know what to pack to keep your tresses fresh all weekend long? Here’s our list of the best products and tools to take along if you’re working a festival, or simply creating a free-spirited look!

Bumble and bumble Don’t Blow It (H)Air Styler
Ever see an electrical outlet in the desert? Yeah, no, so blow-drying is out of the question at Electric Daisy Carnival, Burning Man, etc. Enter Bumble and bumble’s newest creation, the Don’t Blow It (H)Air Styler. This air-dry crème tames flyaways and creates a pouf-free take on air-dried, lived-in style. Don’t Blow It enhances natural texture, leaving hair bouncy, with a soft, product-free feel. With its blend of plant-based conditioners, it absorbs quickly into hair, allowing it to dry softly and smoothly while keeping it hydrated (gritty campground dust beware!). It’s also formulated with UVA and UVB filters—a must for long days in the sun.

Denman Precision Combs
Without power or ‘poo, combs and brushes can be a girl’s best friend at festivals. Worth considering? The new Denman Precision Combs that come in fun colors like hot pink and lime green! Available in six varieties— a  pin tail or tail comb, a small or large cutting  comb, a waver comb and rake comb—these high-quality professional combs leave hair ultra-smooth and damage-free.

Hotheads Pastel Extensions
If your client’s idea of a color commitment starts on Friday night and ends on Monday morning, she can still rock pastel, fantasy and rainbow hues. Hotheads’ Trendy Pastel Collection is a blend of human hair and temperature-safe fiber that can be applied in less than an hour. Use them to create ombré, balayage, ecaille or rooty looks. They last up to six dancing, moshing and crowd surfing weeks.

Tangle Teezer Salon Elite
Humidity and head banging? That’s a recipe for matted disaster. But there’s help, in the form of the world famous detangling brush, the Tangle Teezer. Its teeth are specially designed for a soft, easy glide, and it works on wet or dry hair. And when you want some height, the Tangle Teezer Compact Styler offers you a gentle backcombing experience to get those tresses taller. To order Tangle Teezer visit behindthechair.com/tangle.

amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo
No shower? No problem. Dry shampoo is a staple of “lost weekends,” and amika’s Perk Up Dry Shampoo is one of our favorites—it creates texture, add volume and deodorizes while simultaneously strengthening hair and repairing split ends. Limp, oily strands are rejuvenated instantly! Best of all? The weightless formula disappears into hair, absorbs excess oils and never leaves a powdery residue.
