The Beauty Changes Lives Foundation Awards 10 Students and 10 Licensed Stylists

The Beauty Changes Lives Foundation, through generous funding from Wella’s Hairdressers at Heart, is pleased to award 20 Spring 2016 Vidal Sassoon Professional Beauty Education scholarships. The Vidal Sassoon Professional Beauty Education, also known as the holy grail for cosmetology training, offers industry-leading philosophy and courses worldwide through its renowned academies. The scholarship represents a commitment by Wella Professionals to fund almost 200 scholarships between 2013 and 2017.

The $1.5 million scholarship grant established by Wella’s Hairdressers at Heart program and administered by the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation, honors the legacy of the late Vidal Sassoon and his belief in continual learning throughout a professional hairstylist’s career. Launched in 2013, the nationwide competition awards 10 “basic” scholarships that cover 50 percent of tuition (up to $10,000) to students enrolled in a cosmetology program at a qualified school. Since continuing education is super important, 10 licensed hairstylists are awarded “advanced”  scholarships to attend a North American Sassoon Academy—this includes travel and course fees up to $5,000.

Sal Mauceri, Wella North America CEO, understands the commitment to ongoing learning and how the Vidal Sassoon Professional Beauty Education Scholarship empowers stylists. “We are honored to help individuals move forward on their career journey,” Sal said. “It is a gift to see how education is changing lives, energizing and encouraging students to reach their highest potential.”

The different levels of education give stylists an opportunity to pursue learning no matter how far along in their career they are! “The Vidal Sassoon Professional Beauty Education Scholarship Program is making it possible for individuals to pursue a long-deferred dream of a career in beauty,” said Lynelle Lynch, president of the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation.

So how do you stand out when submitting your application? It’s all about your passion!  A panel of award-winning hairstylists, platform artists and educators judge each application by giving a composite score that weighs written essays, inspiration boards and online videos showcasing the stylist’s professionalism, technical skill, and most importantly, a vision for how beauty changes lives in the industry. The Vidal Sassoon Professional Beauty Education Scholarship accepts applications for its Fall 2016 competition from July 11 to September 19. Learn more here
