Why COLOR, Cut & Style is Unlike Any Other Show in the Industry

If you were to enter the most anticipated hair show of year, what would you expect to find? A 100-foot LED screen? The industry’s leading experts? A sophisticated audience with an eagerness to learn? When you walk into BTC’s COLOR, Cut & Style 2015, you’ll find not only all of this but you’ll also find yourself—the reflection of a tireless artist with a passion that extends far beyond the salon. Bring your reflection into focus and let the artist underneath flourish when COLOR, Cut & Style takes over the Hyatt Regency New Orleans from September 26-29 for four days of the best education the industry has to offer.

The Largest Stage in the World of Hair

When we say the best education, we mean it. And although we could explain why all of stage artists are such groundbreakers in the industry, we’re confident their names speak for themselves. Taking to the COLOR stage are TIGI’s Anthony Mascolo and Richy Kandasamy; Beth Minardi; Paul Mitchell’s Robert Cromeans, Stephanie Kocielski and Linda Yodice; Schwarzkopf Professional’s Kim Vo; Wella Professional’s Sonya Dove; Aveda’s Ian Michael Black; L’Oréal Professionnel’s Nancy Braun; Farouk’s Patrick Kalle; Goldwell’s Dimitrios Tsioumas, Rebecca Hiele and Nick Pagano; and Kenra Professional’s Robb Dubré. The stylists taking to the Cut & Style stage are Aveda’s Allen Ruiz, L’Oréal Professionnel’s James Morrison and bridal updo expert Stephanie Brinkerhoff.

Celebrity Colorist Panel

As well, after our inaugural Celebrity Colorist Panel drew 2,400 attendees last year, BTC is bringing it back again—with a new lineup of celeb colorists to spill Hollywood’s best haircolor secrets.

Look & Learn Classes

But before these artists take to the COLOR, Cut & Style stages, BTC is introducing a COLOR Show first—a day chock full of Look & Learn classes the day before the stages open! On Saturday, September 26, 3-time British Hairdresser of the Year Angelo Seminara, ombré activist Guy Tang, Beth Minardi, Stephanie Brinkerhoff and owner of Vivid.Education Rebecca Taylor will be hosting their own Look & Learns. Classes include “Balayage and Ombré” with Guy, “Signature Hair Color” with Beth, “Upstyling and Braids” with Steph, “Fashion Colors” with Rebecca and “Vision Hair” with Angelo. All of the classes will allow the audience to engage with the artists in an intimate learning environment, which, of course, is far more conducive for learning.

Visit Our Brand Studios in Our Connection Center

That’s the main point of difference when it comes to COLOR compared to other hair shows—the intimate setting allows for a deeper connection between the artists and attendees, and no other aspect of COLOR demonstrates this more than the Connection Center. From the moment you walk in, you’ll recognize that major hair show staples are noticeably absent—loud music, artists shouting over each other with microphones, flashing lights and masses of people buying while vendors push as much merchandise as possible. That is not what COLOR is, at all. You’ll find the Connection Center is relaxed—all microphones are banned. The focus of the Connection Center is to let you, the attendees, hear from the artists at their brand studios, try their innovative products and latest techniques and truly learn. There is no push to sell, there is no push to buy. Go about the Center at your own pace to truly get a feel for each of these brands. The Connection Center sponsors you will find are Aveda, TIGI, Wella Professionals, Schwarzkopf Professionalghd, Goldwell, L’Oréal Professionnel, Kenra Professional, Beth Minardi Signature, Farouk Systems and Paul Mitchell

As well, you’ll receive Color Formula and How-To Cards as you explore each studio, allowing you to build a walking repertoire of the latest skills you’ve obtained from COLOR.

#ONESHOT Hair Awards Sunday Night

As well, there’s another new addition to COLOR this year. BTC is proud to introduce the #ONESHOT Hair Awards—an award show that honors the best in hair, one photo at a time! Broken up into two categories—Hot Shot and Big Shot—the award show will take place on Sunday, September 27 during COLOR. Hot Shot honors the real hair you do behind the chair every day—simply take a photo of your color, cut or style and hashtag it to the proper category on Instagram to enter! Winners will be decided by industry leaders on the night of the show. Big Shot honors the editorial artist shots of the year—expect to see work from the collections of the biggest artists in our industry. For more information, visit behindthechair.com/oneshot

Be Inspired

Finally, the last aspect of COLOR that makes it truly unique is that it goes deeper than just showcasing the beauty biz. You come to COLOR to seek inspiration, reinvigoration of your passion. And BTC found no one better to inspire you than Mark Bustos (@markbustos).

The inspirational hairstylist and founder of the #BeAwesomeToSomebody Movement has gained widespread recognition on not only social media but from The New York Times, Vogue, GQ and CNN for going around New York City and giving haircuts to the homeless to boost their confidence—all the while documenting their stories on his Instagram account. Mark will be onstage at COLOR, Cut & Style to explain what motivates him—and how even the smallest of actions can have the biggest of impacts on somebody’s life.

BTC is confident that COLOR, Cut & Style is unlike any other hair show you’ve ever attended, and year after year we continue to break away from the pack by offering the best education and inspiration around. Get your tickets today and reinvigorate your love for your craft! We look forward to seeing you there!
