Summer to Fall Balayage

This summer to fall inspired balayage/color melt from BTC #ONESHOT 2016 Hair Paint finalist Chenoa Cortines (@chenoaleec) of the William Taber Salon in Fleming Island, Fla. has us craving crisper weather, cozy sweaters and pumpkin spice everything! If you’re like us, you’re wondering how you can achieve a straightforward transformation to tame yours, and your client’s, fall fever before the season officially changes. Here’s Chenoa’s exclusive how-to.

“She has thick hair and her ends were so light, I decided on mixing a 6BV with clear instead of using a level 9 to help prevent fading and to ensure she would have good coverage on her ends,” says Chenoa.

Natural/starting level:
The client had a natural level 6 virgin hair with a grown out balayage/ombré.

Paul Mitchell Color Formulas
Formula A: 3 parts The Color 4N + 1 part The Color 5NB with 10 volume developer
Formula B: Equal parts PMShines 6BV + clear

1. Chenoa used her client’s pre lightened ends to her advantage to achieve this balayage. Apply Formula A with minimal lifting at the root, dragging the root down to give a more blended appearance.
2. Blend Formula A into Formula B by applying Formula B onto the ends.
3. Chenoa’s client only needed to process for 35 minutes.

Color Service:
Haircut: $50
Total: $110
Saved: $95 (for not needing any pre lighten)
