Summer Stylin’ Had Me A Blast!

ColorProof’s Ruth Tedmori and Social Dry Lounge in Irvine Have Day of Styling Education

Working in the salon through the summer months can be a bit disparaging. While everyone is splashing in the pool, you find yourself elbow deep in sudsy hair at the shampoo bowl—or in other words, the closest you’ve gotten to a pool all summer long! So Sweis Inc., the professional product distributor based in southern California, had an idea—if stylists are cooped inside all summer, let’s bring some fun to them!

Sweis recently hosted a summer styling event at Social Dry Lounge in Irvine, CA with ColorProof educator, Ruth Tedmori. Ruth, an editorial hairstylist who has worked in commercials, runway shows and music videos, still works as a hairstylist with her own large clientele. She is known for creating high-fashion looks that follow trends, but she is revered for creating looks that are recreatable for stylists behind the chair while being professional and wearable for their clients.

At the daylong educational event, Ruth shared her favorite product cocktails and tips mixed with a dash of business insight alongside advice for increasing your salon’s upgrade menu. Her primary upgrade focus was on those quick 3-10 minute styling services that Ruth declares all clients love. These upgrades include adding braids, quick chignons, beach waves or S-pattern curls. Along with these suggestions, the stylists in attendance got to try each style under the expert guidance of Ruth.

Coinciding with the styling education, Ruth took time for a Q&A about her favorite ColorProof products. She praised two products in particular. Liftit Foam is the perfect styling product for adding volume and creating body for any special event. AllAround Working Hair Spray makes hair more flexible and brushable, preventing having to layer and rework the product.

Although summer is slowly drifting away, the attendees of Ruth’s daylong class were able to receive a gift that will last them long after summer comes to a close. And isn’t that more valuable than relaxing poolside anyway?
