Nailing the Technique with CND
Want some serious artistic inspiration? Check out these amazing nail designs from Winnie Huang from Vancouver, the newly crowned winner of CND’s NAILS Next Top Nail Artist competition.
The competition was fierce throughout, and the top three contestants battled it out for the coveted title, cash and product prizes and life-changing career opportunities. Winnie and the other two contestants, Celina Rydén and Sarah Elmaz, were challenged to create a set of nails inspired by legendary actress and humanitarian, Tippi Hedren, who is credited for pioneering the Vietnamese-American Nail Professional movement in the 1970s. The contestants also had to create four dynamic sets of nails inspired by four themes: What’s beautiful to you?; How has beauty changed your life?; What does the future of beauty look like?; and finally, “Shout Your Beauty.”
The fourth show-stopping set from each contestant was showcased on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at the 4th annual Beauty Changes Lives Experience at Chicago’s Soldier Field, where Celina, Sarah and Winnie were featured as CND’s NextGen Artists, representing the next generation of talented beauty professionals. The three top artists received an unexpected twist when they were asked to create a fifth and final set of nails designed specifically for CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold to wear during New York Fashion Week S/S 2017 in September.
Ultimately, Winnie took home the top prize, which includes $2,000 cash, a gift basket from CND, trophy, opportunity to judge next year’s competition, cover of the May issue of NAILS, trip to New York Fashion Week and guest editor of NAILS for a year.
