London’s Alternative Hair Show a Night of Creativity, Charity
Promising to be the biggest and best yet, the Alternative Hair Show 2014 will feature 20 hairdressing teams from across the globe showing off their skills for this year’s theme of “Equilibrium.” The show will celebrate the artistry and creativity of hairdressing, while raising funding for Fighting Leukemia—a charity set up by Alternative Hair Founder Tony Rizzo and his wife Maggie to support Leukemia patients. It will take place on October 12 at 8 p.m. at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
This is the 32nd London Alternative Hair Show, which has established itself as an enduring charity event, loved by the 5,000 audience members who annually attend the show during the weekend of Salon International. It is considered a “not to be missed event” on the hairdressing calendar. Importantly, the hair teams who appear in the show self-fund their presentations.
“I am truly delighted with the support the hair teams give Alternative Hair each year,” says Alternative Hair Global President Anthony Mascolo. “We have 20 very exciting teams including the Toni&Guy Artistic Team led by Sacha Mascolo. It will be wonderful to have my niece on stage with her team for the first time since I have been Global President. It’s going to be a brilliant night.”
An intrinsic part of the evening is the Visionary Award, which recognizes new hairdressing talent. It has grown over the last few years into an international photographic competition. The finalists are each invited to present a model during a separate part of the show. Judged by top hairdressers and journalists from across the globe, the winner and two runners-up are announced during the evening.
