London-Inspired Braided Updo

Need a holiday updo that’s elegant, casual and quick to create? Braids and ponytails are your answers. And this Dutch braid that’s pulled into a texturized ponytail by Moroccanoil’s® Kevin Hughes is the perfect style to suggest to all your holiday party-goers. Here’s how it’s done.

1. Apply Moroccanoil® Treatment and Volumizing Mousse to damp hair, then rough-dry to set the styling foundation. Use a curling iron to curl random pieces of hair to create movement.

2. Create a large halo section centered over the crown, then backcomb the hair in this section to create more volume over the crown of the head. Smooth the surface of the hair, and use an elastic to secure the hair into a ponytail at the lower crown.

3. Then, define a natural part in the front of the head and begin a Dutch braid along the heavy side of the side part.

4. Dutch braid the hair until you reach the top of the ear, then transition to a 3-strand braid and continue braiding.

5. When you reach the end, secure the braid with an elastic and take a small piece of hair from the ponytail, anchor the braid and secure into the pony.

6. To finish the look, spray Moroccanoil® Dry Texture Spray over the look and detail the ponytail to create additional texture. Then spray Moroccanoil® Luminous Hairspray Strong for added hold. Watch the video below for the complete how-to!
