jcp salons Introduce “The American Woman”

She comes from L.A., New York, Chicago and New Orleans. She’s stylish, sassy and sophisticated. She’s the American Woman, and she’s also the inspiration for the Fall/Winter Trend Collection, created by the talented team of artists at jcp salon. To develop the trend, Creative Artistic Director Nick Stenson led his team through a journey across America, creating looks inspired by the country’s most iconic cities. This week, jcp salon Vice President Amiee Thomas, Nick and his creative team unveiled the jcp salon American Woman Collection during a weeklong event for the company’s Field Operation Leaders and Artistic Lead Designers at a crazy cool fashion show, held at jcpenney headquarters in Dallas.  The show was co-sponsored and co-presented by Redken, Wella Professionals and Matrix, whose representatives each created their interpretations of the jcp salon American Woman theme for the presentation.

The unveiling of American Woman was just part of an event that also included haircolor training from Wella and Matrix and styling training from Redken. As part of the Matrix training, 50 lucky JCPenney employees received haircolor makeovers—complete with a before and after photo session—to allow the jcp Salon ALDs to work with Matrix COLORINSIDER ammonia-free permanent haircolor.

Nick also revealed that jcp salons will be offering a new selection of blow-dry and finishingmenu options, featuring four of the looks from the American Woman collection. The last two days of the week were devoted to training—conducted by Nick and his team of Artistic Regional Leaders—on how to achieve the four looks.

“Do you feel the power?” Amiee asked the enthusiastic attendees at the end of one of the sessions. “If you don’t, wait for it—it will come. If you do, think about how you’re going to use that power to make jcp salons the destination of choice for every client. Remember—the power is in your hands!”
