Is there anything better than a perfectly-executed balayage with a shadow root? Yeah…we couldn’t think of anything either. That’s why we’re so in love with this rooty bronde, soft shadow look. This masterpiece comes to us from BTC #ONESHOT 2016 Hair Paint finalist Mika Parker Rogerson (@mikaatbhc). We posted Mika’s color on our Instagram and, nearly 14,000 likes later, we had to request her formula and how-to.

“This client was a previous balayage client who had become a little too light through the summer heat,” shares Mika. “She had reached about a Level 10NG all over just from being in the sun. We wanted to tone her down but still keep the nice dimension we had previously created.” Here’s how she did it.
