How-To: Minty Fresh Matte Gloss

Spring weather just begs for cool greens and blues, and this look from Wella Professionals (who, by the way, won BIG at our recent Stylist Choice Awards) delivers just the right dose of minty freshness! Darren Ambrose, Wella Professionals Global Top Artist, created this beautiful blonde with an “urban camouflage” effect using green and blue hues. The result? A young, modern look with an on-trend street vibe. Even better? This is low-commitment, and those greens and blues will fade out beautifully. Get the cut and color steps below!

Cut How-To
1.
Starting at the nape, create your baseline length and point-cut for a softer edge.

2. Point-cut the fringe length to the tip of the nose and then slide-cut from this into the sides to connect and create a soft curve.

3. Blend the side length into the back with a slight elevation.

4. Elevate the top section, using the longest layer from the side section as a guide, point-cut the layers to create soft texture.

5. Slice-cut the ends to reduce weight and add texture.

Wella Professionals Color Formulas
Formula A: iNSTAMAT!C by Color Touch Ocean Storm + Color Touch Emulsion 4% + Color,i.d.

Formula B: iNSTAMAT!C by Color Touch Jaded Mint + Color Touch Emulsion 4% + Color.i.d.

Application
1. Section hair into two large triangles on top and back sections and a small triangle at the fringe.

2. Starting in the nape, apply Formula A 6 cm from root, blending to Formula B into the midlength and Formula A into the end. Repeat with the other side.

3. Repeat the same way with the side sections.

4. In the shorter fringe area, drop out 3cm of natural hair at the hair line. In the next section apply Formula A 6 cm from the root and Formula B in the ends.

5. Work through only half of the top triangle sections. Apply Formula A 6 cm away from root and then Formula B to create a marbling effect. Continue working through the section in the same way, alternating the color formulas until complete.
