How-To: Classic Ombré

This is a great technique for a true ombré—deep tones that flow into gorgeous brightness. It’s strong, bold and decisive. Get the steps from Kadus Professional!

Before: Natural Level 5 (light brunette)

Kadus Color Formulas
Formula A: 1 part Blonding Power + 1.5 parts 20-volume developer

Formula B: 2 parts Permanent Color 5B + 1 part Permanent Color 5A + 3 parts 20-volume developer

Formula C: 1 part Permanent Color 8CG + 1 part 30-volume developer

Formula D: 1 part Demi-Permanent Color 10PA + 6-volume developer




1. Take an oval section approximately 3 inches wide on top of the head. Section four triangles, one on each side above the ear and two at the back with all points toward the crown. Prelighten the ends (about 1/3 of the length of the strand) of all triangles with Formula A. Once processed, finish with Visible Repair Shampoo and Visible Repair In-Salon Treatment.


2. Re-section the hair as in step 1. Apply Formula B to the unsectioned hair (not in the triangles or the crown).


3. Inside the four triangle sections, apply Formula B on the roots and Formula C on the midlengths. Apply Formula D to the prelightened ends.

4. Apply Formula B to the top section from roots to ends. Process and complete the color service using Color Vibrancy Shampoo and Post Color Treatment.
