What Is Precision Cutting?

Why Cut One Curl At A Time

Cutting one curl at a time gives you the ability to easily tailor each haircut to each client’s individual curl pattern. But the key thing to remember is that everything should be cohesive and connected. Why? Because shape is everything. “That doesn’t mean that we’re not still holding one curl next to another and connecting the two,” shares Evan. “It’s really a huge mathematical equation of all these little curls being connected to one another within the shape that the client wants.” 

But Know This…

• Always cut the hair dry and in its natural state. “We wear our hair curly, we don’t wear it wet or straight, so why not cut it that way?” advises Evan.

• Do not texturize or slide cut the hair because it’ll just create frizz. The goal is to preserve the natural curl which can be done with blunt cutting.

• Do not blindly cut the hair. Always have a plan first, otherwise you’ll end up with long pieces falling in the face or one side will be shorter than the other.
