Emily Blunt’s Chic Scroll

close formula

Not all women can pull off effortlessly striking, yet somehow Emily Blunt makes it look easy. Pairing an elegant scroll with a long oriental-inspired gown, Emily was the element of chic on the Met Gala red carpet. Celebrity stylist, Laini Reeves drew inspiration from the Chinese theme, putting a glamorous spin on a classic chignon. “Chinese fashion is so intricate and detailed, but conversely, so simplistic,” notes Laini. “Emily’s hair is exactly that. When I saw the Prada cape, I knew that all the attention would be on the back of the dress, so I slicked back the front of the hair completely and focused all the emphasis on a chic scroll.” This contemporary yet modern updo is one your clients are sure to love.

HOW-TO STEPS

1

To prep, wash hair using Davines Essential MOMO Shampoo and Davines Essential MOMO Conditioner, to give hair a boost of hydration for creating a strong, sleek look.

2

While hair is still damp, spray with Davines OI Absolute Beautifying Potion and Davines Essential VOLU Hair Mist.

3

After rough-drying the hair, spray root to tip once more with Davines Essential VOLU Hair Mist  and comb using a smooth bristle brush.

4

To prevent frizziness and ensure smooth, sleek strands, apply Davines More Inside This Is An Invisible Serum  to seal the shaft of the hair.

5

Section the hair into two sections, one in the front from ear to ear and a second in the back. For this look, Laini temporarily secured the top half so she could fasten the bottom section tightly to the nape of the neck. Then she sprayed Davines More Inside This Is An Invisible No Gas Spray for added support and secure with bobby pins.

6

Allow the top piece of hair to fall back down, the smooth the front section back over the pinned hair toward the nape of neck. Once smoothed, fasten with bobby pins.

7

Then, roll the hair back up toward the top of the head, and create a tight scroll at the back of the head which is then lacquered with Davines More Inside This Is A Strong Hair Spray and pin.
