Color Melting: 2 Tips For Perfecting Your Soft Transition

We caught up with Pulp Riot in the Connection Center at #thebtcshow 2017, where #ONESHOT Pastels Finalist @caitlinfordhair dished out two major tips for stepping up your color melting game. See how she achieves a soft, graduated melt using a horizontal placement technique below!

Just Like A Haircut
When you’re cutting a straight line through the hair and you take it all the way down to a zero to cut right across, you’re going to get a heavy line. When you pull the hair out vertically, you are able to graduate the colors. Holding the hair at a 45-degree or 90-degree angle helps you achieve a soft transition between the colors instead of a harsh line.

Connect The Front and Back
A horizontal color placement also makes it easier to connect the front to the back. Just start on the side sections (right in front of the ear!) and work toward the sections behind the ear. Then, drop out the top section and connect to create balance and symmetry!
