CHI Students Perform at Millennium
On June 28-30, the Farouk Systems School Department worked to showcase the talents of student artists while offering them mentorship and insight into career opportunities. This year the student show team received the chance to travel to Scottsdale, Arizona to attend The Millennium Event. This event focused on education elevated through groundbreaking technology in order to help advance the careers of students who are up-in-coming stylists.
In 2013, Farouk created the student artist show team, which gives students the chance to travel to hair shows and experience a completely new side of the industry. Angela Leschper, a Farouk Systems CAT Artist serves as a mentor for the aspiring Student Artist Show Team. “I love the opportunity to mentor these students,” says Angela. “Working with the student artist show team has been an amazing journey.”
This year’s selected recipients were Adriana Parra and Cheyenne Pope, both seniors at Yuma School of Beauty in Yuma, Arizona, a CHI Partner School. For them, it was not only being announced the winners and receiving CHI tools and styling products, but winning the ultimate prize of performing at the Millennium Event for a huge crowd.
At the event, the students worked on model prep backstage, event set up and even performed on stage with Farouk Systems Artistic Director, Patrick Kalle. For Adriana, this day was a lasting experience.
“Working on stage with [Patrick] was phenomenal,” she shares. “As a member of the Student Artist Show Team I learned new techniques as well as the value of continuing education.”
Cheyenne was equally enthusiastic about working at the Millennium showcase, “The CHI partner school’s staff, Angela, and many people I got to work with have made me feel that my dreams are possible and I greatly appreciate everything they did for me,” says Cheyenne. “It was amazing being able to work with Patrick Kalle backstage and using my favorite products like the DURA CHI Curling Iron.”
