BTC Presents The Next Big Thing
If at first you fail, try and try again. This concept is the foundation of The Next Big Thing, a groundbreaking vision from BTC founder Mary Rector-Gable. Revealed for the first time at the BTC booth during America’s Beauty Show, The Next Big Thing showcased eight innovative products that will reshape the beauty industry as we know it. The reason BTC chose to showcase these products? Not because they were created by scientists in a lab at some mega-corporation or based on the opinions of narrowly-tailored focus groups. These innovations were created by the people who know the world of hair best—hairdressers!
The Next Big Thing includes four unique brushes from Kent Salon designed by creative director, Ben Cosby; The Power Styler and Fresh Wigs Dryer from hairdresser and owner of Daroko, Roi Korach; Flamboyage Meche Strips by 3-time British Hairdresser of the Year, Angelo Seminara, of Davines; innovative color accessories from hairdressers and owners of FRAMAR International, Frank and Maria Gallo; Tangle Teezers from hairdresser Shaun P.; traceless hair rings from invisibobble’s Sophie Trelles; and the Pin-Up Bracelet by 4-time NAHA Avant Garde Hairstylist, Nicholas French.
Along with debuting these groundbreaking products, BTC brought in live education throughout ABS weekend to show off how to use these new tools! Educators included Neill-TSP owner and Secondhand Scissor Project founder, Michael Baker, Katherine Prendergast (KTP) of RefleKTion Salon, John Benline (Johnny Hollywood) of Chuan Spa and Roni Roehlk, lead educator for Zazu Salon in Chicago. For KTP, her experience educating in the booth allowed her to “inspire future generations of obsessed stylists,” while letting her try out the new, innovative products. “Each product is unique and has a very special place in our industry,” says KTP, “The Kent Brushes truly elevates our tool kits to the next level and The Power Styler cut my blow-dry times in half. Who doesn’t love products that makes them better at their job in less time?”
To top off all the activity going on in the booth, hair activist Guy Tang, Vivid.Education colorist Rebecca Taylor, bridal updo expert Stephanie Brinkerhoff and Schorem Barbers Leen and Bertus all stopped by to interact with fans and offer their best hairdressing advice.
