BTC Hits The Road! 10 Styles We Can’t Get Enough Of

close formula

If you’ve been keeping up with our Instagram lately you know we’ve been hitting the road hard this fall—because when the trends travel, so do we. From New York City, to Los Angeles and Austin, Texas, to Stockholm, Barcelona and Jamaica—great hair is happening everywhere and we just can’t get enough. Here are a few of our favorite looks we’ve seen while on the road, and they’re just in time for the holidays.

1. How-To: The Long-Layered Cut
Everyone loves a long-layered cut! We stopped by the beautiful Anthony Cristiano Salon and got the how-to for long, gorgeous layers—perfect for fall. Here’s how the
PHYTO Global Artistic Director creates the cut!

Get the how-to!

2. All About The Avant-Garde
Of course Wella TrendVision took everything to the next level. First of all, the competition took place in Barcelona, and secondly, the amazing styles we saw there still have us feeling inspired.
This backstage, Avant-garde look from the Sebastian team was just one of many incredible looks showcased on the Wella stage. Learn more about the competition and the winners here.

3. How-To: Two Fashion Week Styles
We stopped by the TIGI® Academy in SOHO for a sit-down session with Creative Director Thomas Osborn and U.S. Session Director Adriana Papaleo, as well as fashion designer Jonathan Simkhai for a breakdown of what it really looks like to work backstage at Fashion Week. Plus, we got these two Fashion Week how-tos in the video below. Check them out and get all the backstage tips from the TIGI® team here.

4. How-To: Cutting Fringe
We picked up a ton of education at Goldwells Global Zoom event this year (which, by the way, was held in Stockholm, Sweden!), and this quickie for cutting fringe was GENIUS. Check it out and see all the winners from the event here!

5. Perfect Your Pompadour

When we hopped on a flight down to Austin, Texas for the launch of Farouk Systems new Men’s Grooming Line Esquire, we picked up a few of their best barbering tips, like how to perfect the always-trending pompadour. Work from the highest point on the head and create your guideline, said Farouk Systems Creative Director for Cut Maurice Den Exter. Then, moving forward on top of the head, pull the hair back and cut from that same guideline. This will create the proper short-to-long length. Get the rest of the tips here!

6. How-To: Victorian Fingerwaves on Ecstasy
Style from three top fashion capitals collided when Z.One Concept™ (the creators of Milk Shake USA) hosted its N.Y.C. Hair Fashion Day event. From rainbow colors to exotic cutting and styling, renowned celebrity hairdresser and industry innovator Desmond Murray created this cool look and said, “When it comes to avant-garde work, you can always adapt the super-creative into something commercially viable.”

7. Aveda
The 2016 Aveda Mid-America Show in Cincinnati was a hit! And when Ian Michael Black pulled out this vibrantly-hued ponytail encased with ornate sequins, it totally wowed the crowd for both its editorially-focused vision and its amazing Aveda color.

8. How-To: Cut Creatively
L’ANZA Healing Haircare’s Global Creative Director Matt Swinney
gave us this little piece of advice while at the L’ANZA B.I.G. event in Jamaica, and we couldn’t agree more with his words of wisdom: “I don’t start a haircut thinking about when I’m going to finish. I spend my time in the process. Start enjoying the space between A and B—the creative journey.”

9. How-To: Tapered Layers
Peace, love and happiness—that’s what we all want in this world, right? That’s what we got at
John Paul Mitchell Systems’ annual event, The Gathering! Besides super-inspirational speakers like John Paul DeJoria himself, we picked up a bunch of hot how-tos using Paul Mitchell products, like this tapered-layered cut with some fringe.

10. How-To: The UpDUDE
We spent the weekend in Los Angeles with Schwarzkopf Professional and couldn’t resist this man-do style. You’re welcome!
