Bridal Styling: How To Prep For Different Styles & Textures
How To Prep For Different Styles & Textures When Styling Brides
When a new bride sits in your chair, you never know what they’re going to request for their big day. That’s why you need to be ready to create any style on any texture. So we’re sharing how to prep for five different styles with the help of five bridal stylists from all over the world. From buns and braids to curly and textured updos, keep scrolling to see what they shared!
1. Buns & Braids
If you’re doing buns or braids (or a combo of the two), there are two things you need: Control and texture. That’s why for this fishtail bun, Australia-based bridal stylist Cat Hughes (@cathughesxo) started by applying Moroccanoil® Hydrating Styling Cream through the midlengths and ends. Then, she sprayed Moroccanoil® Dry Texture Spray multiple times while building the style. “Spray it everywhere, don’t be stingy,” she advises. “Work this bad boy through as you need.”

2. Curly & Textured Hair
For brides with curly and textured hair, bridal specialist and Moroccanoil® Artistic Team Member Latavia Alise (@ellealiseartistry)—who is based in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia area (DMV)—likes to start with a wash n’ go as the base. Then, she’ll cocktail Moroccanoil® Treatment with Moroccanoil® Intense Curl Cream because their super rich formulas will make detangling easier. “If you’re texture curious and not use to dealing with curly hair, it’s really important that you’re starting from the ends and working your way up the hair strand so you’re not causing damage,” she shares.
The last step in her prep is to rake Moroccanoil® Curl Control Mousse through each section to add slip and definition and coat each hair strand all the way through for zero frizz.

3. Breakage-Prone Hair
Brides with dry, porous strands are more prone to breakage, so it’s important styling doesn’t make that damage worse. For these clients, London-based bridal stylist Kasia Fortuna (@kasia_fortuna) will first apply Hydrating Styling Cream to the mids and ends to prevent split ends. Then, she’ll spray Moroccanoil® Perfect Defense on each section before curling to add an extra layer of protection before heat styling.
4. Classic Glam Waves
Glam waves are a staple bridal style that should have three things: longevity, shine AND movement. In order to achieve all of the above, Ukraine-based bridal stylist Irina Pasechnik (@i_pasechnik) goes easy with the product usage. She starts by applying Perfect Defense to protect strands from heat damage. Then, once all the hair is curled, she’ll apply Moroccanoil® Luminous Hairspray Strong and gently comb out the curls to establish a strong, yet lightweight, hold with high-shine and zero crunch.

5. Intricate Updos
No matter the intricacy of your updos, Russia-based stylist Zukhra Sullieva (@zuhra_sullieva) relies on two products to keep her upstyles in place all night long. For the below style, Zukhra started by applying Dry Texture Spray to give the hair some grit to better hold the style. Then, she sprays Luminous Hairspray Strong generously throughout while building the style to give it longevity without a sticky residue.
