The Behind The Chair Show 2017: Day 1
It only made sense to host this year’s The Behind The Chair Show in Austin, Texas, because our lineup of artists is bringing some serious heat. From the official launch of a new brand to five social media faves together on one stage, day one set the bar high. We were Instagramming all day so you could stay in the know, and now you can see our quickie recap of what went down!
Matrix
Not only was the Matrix team back and hotter than ever (we are in Austin, after all), but they opened the show, so it’s safe to say it was AH. MAZE. ING. Chrystofer Benson, Lenny Strand, Danielle Keasling, Nick Stenson, Dilek Onur-Taylor, Michelle O’Conner, Daniel Roldan and Michael Albor talked inspiration, color trends and, of course, dished out some of their signature color melting formulas and techniques.

Victory Barber & Brand
Our favorite barbering bros Matty Conrad and Mark Bustos returned to the BTC stage, and this time, they invited UK barbering legend (and BHA Men’s Hairdresser of the Year) Kevin Luchmun along for the ride. The audience laughed
It was the trio’s first time EVER for a morning of men’s grooming tips and techniques, and, of course, plenty of laughs and a whole lot of feels. Their show also marked the official launch of Matty’s very own men’s grooming line—Victory Barber & Brand. The brand (and Matty’s launch video) was inspired by his grandfather, and we’re pretty sure the audience had literal tears in their eyes after his presentation.

b3 Brazilian Bond Builder
b3 and Global Director of Education Alfredo Lewis (@alfredo_lewis) brought together a diverse group of some of the most badass hair colorists in the industry all “for the love of hair.” Onstage, Rebecca Taylor (@rebeccataylorhair) demoed a metallic mosaic color, king of Hollywood waves Mustafa Avci (@mustafaavci) shared his signature technique,

Farouk Systems, Inc.
Farouk Systems, Inc. was here for their sixth COLOR, Cut & Style show and, as always, they turned UP. CCS veteran and Color Director Richard Jordan shared color trends and unique sectioning placement using the brand’s new CHI violet tones. Then, for the first time ever, Farouk artists Danielle Bucco-Regazzi, Cynthia Diersen and Maggie O’Daniel took the stage. These three fierce ladies gave tons of tips to take back to the salon while giving us major girl power vibes.

Redken
Redken has always been known for their amazing education, and Sean Godard, Veronica Ridge and Kelly Scott proved why. The trio shared techniques for pretty much every current salon trend—blonding, balayage, pastels and smoky grays—while also giving audience members valuable tips and real talk, eliciting actual oohs and aahs from the crowd!
