Aveda Teams With Bobbi Brown to Salute Women of Our Military on the Runway
Always in support of a worthy cause, Aveda teamed up with Bobbi Brown for “Salute the Runway,” an initiative geared toward the acknowledgement and support of our nation’s thousands of military servicewomen. “Salute the Runway” gave military servicewomen and veterans from around the country the opportunity to walk the runway in an effort to raise awareness and support for our women in uniform, and their transition reentering civilian life.
But before these women could conquer the runway, they first had to learn how to walk on it. Enter supermodel Hilary Rhoda, who was on hand to coach the women for their walk down the runway. Once, the ladies mastered their walk, it was time for hair! Aveda stylists worked with the 14 soldiers to create unique looks—from curls and waves to sleek looks and high ponys—each style was designed to make the women feel beautiful. Aveda also offered a Stress-Fix area and provided Stress-Fix hand massages.
For the runway show, the women wore different variations of the iconic little black dress. Participating design houses included DKNY, Calvin Klein, Carmen Marc Valvo, Norisol Ferrari, BCBG, Tahari, Rebecca Taylor, Betsey Johnson, Nicole Miller, Tadashi, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael by Michael Kors and Mara Hoffman.
