Aveda hosted a memorable day of performances and technical presentations for more than 1,800 regional stylists and salon owners who gathered for top education in cut, color, style, texture, and more, during its Mid-America Show in Cincinnati, OH. Aveda’s Global Artistic Team and Aveda Guest Artists from North America rocked an entire day of incredible presentations celebrating the art of hairdressing. The goal was to inspire and educate through creative and technical presentations, while fostering a deep sense of connection to Aveda’s heritage of distinctive artistry and environmental responsibility.

The company’s commitment to wellness and use of naturally derived ingredients was brought to life—unfolding in a myriad of artistic interpretations of the Aveda mission. Here are a few of the highlights!

Starting the show off with a bang, Ray Civello, President of Aveda Canada, and his team created a three-segment show designed to break boundaries, liberate and incite change called Sustainable Human. Models emerged wearing ornate, white floral-inspired headdresses on top of perfectly crafted styles.

Ian’s Global Haircolor Inspiration

Aveda’s Global Artistic Director, Hair Color, Ian Michael Black, drew inspiration from his travels in East Africa, utilizing different shades of mud to color particular shades of mud to color particular section of hair.

Tippi’s Knows Texture

The texture goddess herself, Tippi Shorter, Aveda’s Global Artistic Director, Textured Hair, who tends to the tresses of Hollywood elite such as Beyoncé, demonstrated how to transform wavy/curly/coily textures into a series of sleek styles.

Janell’s Night Blooming Makeup

Presenting her 2014 NAHA Makeup collection, Janell Geason, Aveda Global Artistic Director, Makeup, showcased looks using new shades from Aveda’s Romantic Grandeur Collection, and created a stunning seasonal smoky eye using colors from Aveda’s limited-edition, Twinkling Eyes Holiday Collection palette.

Ricardo’s Glacial-Inspired Cuts

Aveda Global Artistic Director, Hair Cutting, Ricardo Dinis, channeled the Icelandic landscape with a sculptural inspired haircut that featured strong shapes and lines with precise detailing.

Allen’s Chameleon Stealth

Aveda Global Artistic Director, Hair Styling, Allen Ruiz, ended the day of artistic presentations on a high note—morphing models into reptilian goddesses with serpentine shaped hairstyles fused together with snake patterns and crimped texture.
