Here’s Why Products With An Acidic pH Are Great For Haircolor

When it comes to color services, ratio, saturation and processing time are all KEY factors. But what about the hair’s pH levels? You could be reversing all of your hard work by using products with the wrong pH. 😱  Want to learn more? Keep scrolling to learn why pH plays a huge role in keeping the client’s color vibrant!

1. An Acidic pH Helps Preserve Color

Is the pH balance of your shampoo and conditioner opening or closing the cuticle? On the pH scale of 0-14, anything below 7 is acidic and anything above 7 is alkaline. Products high in alkaline open the cuticle, so you end up losing haircolor after a wash.

@ericmichaelhair recommends using Saphira Mineral Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner which has an acidic pH balance of 5.5 to close the cuticle, sealing in color and moisture.

2. Use A pH Balancing Treatment For An Even Color Application

@jessietripi prefers to apply Saphira The One before any glossing or toning services as a pH balancing treatment. The One features an acidic pH balance of 3.8 to work as a color equalizer and seals the cuticle for an even application. This is perfect for working with extensions, which require a little more TLC during the coloring process.
