Trend Radar: Fashion Week Stylists Predict These 5 Beauty Trends
Fashion Month—the bi-annual beauty storm that takes over New York City, London, Milan and Paris—always kicks off with NYFW. That’s why the BTC team gets backstage access to the industry’s biggest shows, so we can spot and share next season’s trends straight from the hairdressers who create them.

From subtly-slick wet looks that reflected this Fashion Week’s weather forecast to unconventional DIY haircolor that will bring back your childhood summer camp nostalgia, here’s the “WHO, WHAT, WHERE” we saw this season.

1. The Gel Effect

The wet look made its way back into the mainstream last year, but this season is predicting sunny with a chance of slight showers—think more subtle gelled vibes over the totally drenched looks of the past. Oh, and add some wind for a total ocean-swept vacay feel.

2. DIY Hair

Remember coloring your hair tie-dye with markers and paint at summer camp?! These unconventional color techniques and patterns are making a comeback. From coloring wefts with markers to temporary hair paint, these looks are giving us major nostalgia.

3. Dramatic Silhouettes & Shapes

From bouffants to snatched ponies, strong shapes and silhouettes brought the DRAMA on this season’s runways. Is this the beginning of an era that embraces more structured and done-up looks over lived-in? Looks like it might be!

4. Knot So Basic

From luxe-and-low to ’90s Bantu, there’s a knot to reflect every personal style. And that’s exactly what we saw backstage this season, so expect clients to start requesting knot-so-basic looks for every occasion!
