2. They create more impact with less work

“This sectioning technique is a great way to achieve the best and biggest results with the least amount of time and the least amount of foil,” Cassie shared. It essentially creates a “fan of brightness” with the most impact around the face-frame and client’s part while building dimension in the interior.

3. The application is FAST

Ashley loves working with pivot partings because it takes the guesswork out of her sectioning and allows her get her clients in and out quickly without sacrificing the results they want. “I start right above the ear and pivot right up the part line. It allows you to move quickly and I don’t need to use a lot of foils,” she explains. 

4. Avoids over-foiling

Struggle to balance brightness and depth? The natural pie-shaped sections are added insurance to avoid over-lifting and adding more foils. “You can go in and place foils and know that you will be supported with a balance of depth because the sectioning is creating it for you,” Cassie explains.

If you’re apprehensive about switching up your sectioning, don’t be! Cassie shared her top advice for perfecting pivots. 

• Pick an easy starting point. Cassie likes to begin her pivot partings at the recession. Why? “It’s an easy space to focus light because it is around the face and creates great spacing because it essentially works with the curvature of the head,” she explains. 

• Make sure the sections between each foil are a triangle. This will guarantee that there is depth between the highlights.
