Here, we’re breaking down three toner tricks you have to try to get the most from a new moisturizing, high shine, demi-permanent liquid color.

Pre-Pigmenting Hair To Move From Blonde To Brunette
No matter what you call it—pre-pigmenting, repigmenting, filling—this step is crucial when coloring two or more levels darker. If you skip it and simply apply a global formula in the desired shade, the hair will look drab and muddy. Here’s how to do it with the Schwarzkopf Professional IGORA VIBRANCE 0-77 shade, which is a double copper booster:
Formula A
1 part IGORA VIBRANCE 0-77 + 1 part IGORA VIBRANCE Activator Gel 1.9% (6-volume)
Formula B
3 parts IGORA VIBRANCE 4-6 + 1 part IGORA VIBRANCE 4-0 + 4 parts IGORA VIBRANCE Activator Lotion 4% (13-volume)
Steps
1. Pre-pigment blonde sections with Formula A.
2. Develop for 20 minutes, then rinse, adding a small amount of warm water and gently massaging to emulsify. Blow-dry.
3. Apply Formula B from regrowth to ends, beginning in the nape.
4. Comb through for even distribution and saturation of product.
5. Develop for 20 minutes and rinse thoroughly. Shampoo with Schwarzkopf Professional BC BONACURE COLOR FREEZE Shampoo and follow with BC BONACURE COLOR FREEZE Conditioner.

Bust Brass On Blondes
Your Level 7 blonde wants to be platinum. This is how you confidently tell her no problem! The 9.5-1 shade in IGORA VIBRANCE is a Level 9 with a cendré (blue/violet) tone, making it the perfect secret weapon for neutralizing any brassy bits. This is what you do:
Formula A
1 part IGORA VARIO BLOND SUPER PLUS + 2 parts IGORA ROYAL Oil Developer 6% (20-volume)
Formula B
1 part IGORA VIBRANCE 9.5-1 + 1 part IGORA VIBRANCE CLEAR 0-00 + 2 parts IGORA VIBRANCE Activator Gel 1.9% (6-volume)
Steps
1. This blonde was prelightened with Formula A using varying strengths of developer:
- IGORA ROYAL Oil Developer 6% (20-volume) or 9% (30-volume) on midlengths and ends
- IGORA ROYAL Oil Developer 3% (10-volume) on the regrowth
2. After a Level 9 is achieved, rinse and use shampoo and conditioner to create an even hair structure.
3. Apply Formula B on damp hair with an application bottle.
4. Develop visually between 5 and 10 minutes until the desired neutral effect is achieved. Rinse, shampoo with BC BONACURE COLOR FREEZE Shampoo and follow with BC BONACURE COLOR FREEZE Conditioner.

Add Pastel Pops
An easy way for a blonde to change up her look is with pastel toners. You could apply a simple all-over toner—or you could create depth and dimension (and make her super-dependent on your skills!) by working with three separate formulas, all mixed with IGORA VIBRANCE CLEAR 0-00 to reduce pigment concentration and give a sheer effect. (And pro tip: You can do this on blondes who are darker, but have Level 9 highlights, for a little pop!) Here’s how it’s done:
Formula A
1 part IGORA VIBRANCE 9.5-1 + 1 part IGORA VIBRANCE CLEAR 0-00 + 2 parts IGORA VIBRANCE Activator Gel 1.9% (6-volume)
Formula B
1 part IGORA VIBRANCE 9-7 + 1 part IGORA VIBRANCE CLEAR 0-00 + 2 parts IGORA VIBRANCE Activator Gel 1.9% (6-volume)
Formula C
1 part IGORA VIBRANCE 9.5-49 + 1 part IGORA VIBRANCE CLEAR 0-00 + 2 parts IGORA VIBRANCE Activator Gel 1.9% (6-volume)
Steps
1. Start with clean, damp hair that is at least a Level 9. Apply Formula A on the regrowth and feather down about 2 inches.
2. Alternate Formulas A, B and C section by section on the midlengths and ends. Take vertical sections instead of horizontal for a seamless fusion of colors when the hair is styled. Horizontal sections could result in color being too dominant on the top section.
3. Continue this throughout the head.
4. Develop for 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Shampoo with BC BONACURE COLOR FREEZE Shampoo and follow with BC BONACURE COLOR FREEZE Conditioner.
