Can’t wait for Fashion Week? You don’t have to. Stella McCartney has set the trends early with her effortlessly beautiful, British-inspired Pre-Fall 2017 show this week. The designer’s new line was celebrated at the legendary, historic Cotton Club in Harlem with a live jazz band and other performers (Alicia Keys!), for which Aveda did the hair. While the models kept it cool but simple to keep the focus on the collection, Aveda artists created the ultimate pinup looks for the entertainers. In case you didn’t make it out to New York City for the party, we’ve got three of the top looks from this major fashion event. Check it out!

1. Model Undone

Aveda Global Creative Director Antoinette Beenders was the lead Aveda artist for the show. She kept the models’ looks beautifully simple to keep the focus on Stella McCartney’s clean, effortless, British-inspired collection. “Don’t be afraid to let your clients’ natural texture shine through,” shares Antoinette. “You want their style to emulate their distinct personality.” Antoinette gave the models luxurious blowouts and then used Pure Abundance Style-Prep and Damage Remedy Split End Repair, bringing out the models’ natural textures.

Tip: Smooth hair with a hair dryer and make it glossy first; then mess it up with Pure Abundance Style-Prep to get the perfect done undone look.

2. 1940s Pinup

Stella McCartney’s presentation at The Cotton Club took us back to a time when 1940s bombshells ruled. The night included entertainers with the ultimate pinup style created by Aveda Artist Sue Thompson. How to get the look? Sue used Voluminizing Tonic for ample volume. Then she curled the hair, fashioned into place and set with Air Control Light Hold Spray.

Tip: Be sure to create a gorgeous, deep side part. According to Sue, that is the element that will make or break this look.

3. Back to Barber Style

The men’s looks for the evening were refined and oh so cool. They were styled by Aveda Global Artistic Director of Hair Cutting Ricardo Dinis. “Their hair was a suited look, inspired by the men of the 1940s,” says Ricardo, who used Aveda Men’s Pure-Formance Firm Hold Gel and Pure-Formance Pomade for the retro styles.

Tip: When you apply the gel, start from the back and work your way forward using a comb to evenly distribute the gel to create a more polished look.
