@paintedhair’s Tip to Avoid Muddiness
When adding a lowlight to blonde hair, avoid going more than one shade darker than the natural base. “You need to have a neutral shade with a pinch of gold to fill the hair and keep it from looking muddy or gray,” she says. Watch her lowlight technique.
@lizhaven’s Hot Towel Tip
When #ONESHOT Hair Paint nominee Liz Haven O’Neill (@lizhaven) balayages, she doesn’t add heat. “I do, however, place painted sections in foil to incubate and prevent the lightener from drying. And if I need a little bit of heat, I’ll place a hot towel over the foils for about 8 to 10 minutes, which usually does the trick.”
