3 Business Tips For Building Your Dream Clientele
How To Build Your Dream Business & Clientele
Missing your clients, the salon and doing what you do best? We feel you. All of this time being stuck at home has us thinking—how can we better our business when we’re back behind the chair? So, when we saw this post from Marissa Mae Neel (@maeipaint) breaking down how she has built her dream business and clientele, we HAD to share it with the fam!
Disclaimer: Every stylist knows what is best for their business and for many of us, routine root touch-ups are our bread and butter. These are some our most loyal guests—they come in every 4 to 6 weeks and end up being some of our highest spenders at the end of the year. That being said, here’s how a fellow stylist has built her business without relying on root touch-ups, but the services she loves to do most.
Keep scrollin’ for three business building tips!
1. Myth: You Can’t Have A Good Business Without Root Touch-Ups
“I have heard conversations before about stylists saying you CAN’T have a good business without root touch-ups, your business will fail and your highlight/extension/other service clients will bail especially when times get tough,” shares Marissa. “I want you to know you CAN build and have a successful business behind the chair doing what you love.”
“I’ve chosen NOT to spend most of days doing single process root touch-ups,” Marissa adds. “Do I have my handful? Yes, absolutely and I LOVE them dearly! I think it’s 10 or less women and I genuinely look forward to the simplicity of their appointments.”
2. Structure Your Business To Support Your Goals
Marissa’s speciality is hair painting, so most of her clients average 10 to 16 weeks between appointments. Longer, spaced-out appointments mean MORE TIME to fill those spots with your dream clients and the services you love to do. Start with these easy steps:
- Find out what services you love to do/want to do more.
- Look at your books. Do you have enough time to bring in new clients?
- Open up your books by strategically scheduling out appointments with your current clientele. This will give you more time to reach out and service new clients.
- Be proactive. Do what you love and build your dream business!
3. Your Dream Clientele Values YOU.
Remember this: “The loyalty in our business goes WAY beyond what service is most frequent,” shares Marissa. “Regardless of the service, if they’re an amazing client, we’ll do WHATEVER and they make it a priority. They budget for it and for most, it’s the LAST thing to go.”
Yes, this will take time—but you’re worth it. “I want you to know that regardless of the service you’re offering, you CAN and you WILL build clients who value YOU. Maybe the hair isn’t always perfect but they love the experience of sitting in your chair and they love the energy you give,” adds Marissa. “Basically, find what it is you love and do the damn thing.”
