I need help with men's highlights. My husband's hair is cut with a #2 back and sides, and .5" on top maybe a little more. I want to give him bleach highlights, but I haven't been able to give him a successful look without making him look spotted. I could let his hair a little longer, but I can't let it go too much because he likes it short and it is thick and wavy. I have tried pulling thru a cap, it's too short for foils, and I have tried doing free hand after I cut it. should I hilite before I cut? I need advice!! I would like to try again soon so help me out. thanks!

comb it in. That's what I do on really short hair.

If you comb in you may achieve an all over color look. I found that if I spike the hair up with a little hairspray and then apply the color to the hair you can achieve a nice tipped look or have more control of where you put the color.
