I am the impatient new graduate. I would like to hear what your first year was like as a hair stylist apprenticing. Where you started out and how it was for you.

Of course everyone wants to make money. All I basically want right now is enough to pay my bills. I'm 25 and for once I would like to have money in my pocket. It would be nice just to spluge. I am working on patience right now.

I am just curious to see what is what like for you all.

"Starving" new graduate

The best advise I have is be confident with yourself, no matter what, and try to stay at a salon for at least a year. I know many stylist that "hop" from one salon to another, yet they complain they have a hard time building clients.  How are they supposed to build clients when they move around??? At first (unless very fortunate) the clients will be few but if your good and professional, they will start coming in. Word of mouth is the best advertisement.  Just don't give up and keep a positive outlook!!!
