Hi everyone. I am hoping to get some advice about highlighting my own hair from the colorists out there. I am not a hair professional, although I do know a few things about coloring and have highlighted my own hair before. My current hair color is basically a Level 4 chocolate brown (it has some warmth to it)and it was colored with a salon permanent dye. I want to add a few highlights similar to what the actress Mila Kunis has now, which to me look like a caramel dark blonde or light brown.

Thank you pixanne. Cassi, this is a professionals forum. If you cannot afford to pay a professional to do your own hair, I would seek an appointment at a beauty school. There you will get work done by professionals-in-training who are supervised by actual working salon professionals, for about the same cost as you going to a beauty supply to buy what you need to achieve that color. Bonus is it's easier for someone else to highlight your hair then for you to do it yourself, so the risk of a mistake is actually less then you trying to do it on your own.

There are several posts on this forum from people seeking advice on how to color their own hair and have gotten it, so I thought it would be fine to ask.

Anyway, thanks for replying. A hair school is a good idea. I will look into it.
