I've been out of the industry for five years. Any advise on getting back into it....

I also would like advice, about going back to styling. Im not confident enough to get a job in a salon,as it has been 10 years out for me. I would like to travel and do hair for homebound, but think it is against Iowa law.Hope we get some advice,Velapri. p.s. saw you posted this in 2010...oh well. anyone?

I don't know anything about Iowa codes, so sorry there. But consider getting some education and trying new things on models and dollheads if you lack confidence. BehindTheChair has great free webinars all the time for new techniques as well as posting a ton of cut and color tutorials. I'm sure you'll be back in the swing in no time!

If you want to get back into the industry you can always start off as an assistant at a salon. Most of them, have you be one for at least a year. I think their programs are a good way for people who are looking for some motivation/confidence. Not only are you still hands on, but some high end salons put you through extra education. Making sure you're on top of what is going on.
