I am. Once the flat iron comes and the formaldehyde dissipates into the air im usually with sinus issues for a few days. Im having this issue without the formaldehyde. I now wear a mask. I explain to the customer that im sensitive to the fumes and just like an acrylic nail tech i take precaution with a mask. I tell them they will not be harmed its just since im in tge range of fire to the steam floating up. Havent had one who felt offended and they return.

I use to work at a salon where we did that. Some of us were complaining about it to the managers and owners, they didn't seem to care. We even did research of ways to still do it but use tools to make it easier for the stylist as well as the client. Some of my clients would have to have towel to cover their face. But the managers didn't care, didn't listen to what our concerns was. They then blamed it on the actual stylists, how we weren't doing the service right. Using "too much" product.. That's when I called OSHA on them & I left. I couldn't do that service anymore..as well as couldn't work for a company that only cared about their profits & not their employee's wellbeing/health.
