So he likes to add highlights and lowlights to his base color, and create fairly chunky sections. “Otherwise,” he says, “they won’t show up at all.” One of Christopher’s favorite formulas for a natural, Level 8 is to highlight with Clairol Basic White Powder Lightener + 20-volume developer and lowlight with Clairol Professional 1-oz. 25G + 1-oz. 86N + 10-volume developer. “The 25G prevents the lowlights from looking too muddy,” he says, “and the 86N is a great warmth buster.”
