The Green That Must Not Be Seen

Has your gold-based blonde ever gone green? According to color expert David Velasco, this can happen if the hair is very porous or very ash. That’s because most tints are made up of blended bases. The blended bases balance out finished colors and keep them from becoming too ash or too gold. But when a gold-based tint is used on overly porous or very ash-toned hair, the tint will over-compensate with green and under-deliver the warm or gold tone. To prevent this from happening, do not work on extremely abused hair. When in doubt, perform a strand test.
