Client referrals keep your business robust. The most important thing to remember about building referrals is that you have to ask—every time you have a customer. Don’t be shy—people generally are happy to help you, especially if they have an established relationship with you. It can’t hurt to offer to give a referral in exchange—if she owns a coffeehouse, for example, be sure to mention her fantastic lattes and muffins when chatting with your café-loving clients.
