Thoroughly saturate dry hair with Aveda Pure Abundance™ Style-Prep™ to prepare for the hair cut.

Begin creating a rounded fringe by combing small sections forward and razor-cutting a choppy line approximately 1-inch above the brows that follows the shape of the hairline. Continue combing sections forward and cutting the fringe until you achieve the desired thickness and roundness. Moving to the right side, comb the entire back section toward the hairline.

Comb small sections from the center parting downward, and razor-cut to the desired length, keeping weight through the sides and length on the top. Repeat on the left side.

Refine the outline with the razor until you achieve the desired roundness, weight and texture.

Rough-dry the remaining Aveda Pure Abundance™ Style-Prep™ into the hair until it is 100% dry. Refine any areas, if needed. Finish with Aveda Air Control™ Hair Spray, shaping the hair until you achieve the desired shape and texture.

Antoinette Beenders’ Choppy Bowl Cut

 

For her much-anticipated evening performance at Aveda Congress 2013, Aveda Global Creative Director Antoinette Beenders brought the circus to town. The awe-inspiring spectacle, which featured more than 40 models and performers merged circus and fashion into a never-before-seen “clown couture.”

During her “Black & White” circus segment, which featured high-contrast hair amidst contortionists and acrobats, Antoinette demonstrated a commercial hair cut inspired by her clown couture theme. Using a razor, Antoinette transformed her model’s hair into a wig-like shape with chunky layers reminiscent of clowns and circus performers, topped off with a blast from the blow dryer to accentuate the texture.
