1. On damp hair, create a part extending from ear to ear across the top of the head.

2. Divide the front section in half vertically. Secure each side. These are sections 2 and 3. The entire back is section 1.

3. Divide section 1 horizontally along the top of the occipital and separate for control. Leave bottom of section loose.

Begin at the bottom of section 1. Use C.R.A.F.T. Comb Control Cutting Technique to establish perimeter length. Continue taking 1-inch horizontal sub-sections, working through sections 1, 2 and 3.

MASTERY POINT: C.R.A.F.T. Comb Control Cutting Technique is used to cut a straight line with minimum tension using the comb as a guide.

Re-section the hair by creating a horseshoe shaped section on the top of the head. Clip for control. This is section 1. Secure the bottom section. This is section 2.

3a. Release section 1. Create a 1-inch wide profile sub-section.
MASTERY POINT: A profile sub-section is defined as a narrow vertical sub-section that extends along the top of the head from the center of the front hairline to the back of the crown.

3b. Comb the profile subsection straight up from the head. Hold the points of the scissors at a 45-degree angle to the ends and use C.R.A.F.T. Point Cutting Technique to work your way along the sub-section. This will be the stationary guide.

3c. Continue taking 1-inch sub-sections parallel to the guide on both sides. Match lengths to stationary guide and point cut. Complete throughout horseshoe- shaped section.
MASTERY POINT: C.R.A.F.T. Point Cutting Technique is used to texturize the ends of layers, create soft, seamless layers and remove weight. The angle of the scissors will dictate the prominence of the texture. The closer you are to 90 degrees, the softer the texture.

Release section 2. Create a center vertical parting on the top of the head. Comb the hair down and slightly forward. Beginning on the left side, approximately 4-inches below the chin, cut using C.R.A.F.T. Slide Cutting Technique. Starting with the scissors partially open, push along the section working from short to long. Slowly close the blades as you go down the strand. Repeat on the right side.
MASTERY POINT: C.R.A.F.T. Slide Cutting Technique is used to scoop out weight and create soft movement.
