How-To: Free-Form Texture and Sun-Kissed Blonde

This look, from Anthony Cristiano’s Intrinsic Collection, was created with an artfully-designed, edgy crop that brings a reinterpretation to model Natalie’s existing soft waves. Subtil Highlights emphasize her flaxen shade for an overall refreshed look.

Section diagonally at the occipital bone and begin your graduation, working in a pivotal manner. Then cross-check to taper to the neck area.

Strengthen the shape by rounding the base, using the jaw and lip line as a visual guide. Release the crown section.

Mix Subtil Lightener to a creamy consistency. Then, starting by teasing a diagonal section at the temple, just in front of the ear and balayage with SUBTIL Powder Lightener and 40-Volume Oxydant in a light application to create a very natural look around the hairline.

Continue to the top of the head, working with horizontal sections. Place a more delicate application at the crown and a more concentrated amount of color toward the face.

Cover each section with cellophane to insulate the color. This will keep the lightener from drying out and also aids in processing.

A client’s body heat will naturally help process the color, so place additional layers of cellophane over the top to help insulate and retain heat. Process for 60 minutes at room temperature.
