Section the hair as shown.

Beginning at the front hairline, take diagonal subsections through the side, and cut with zero elevation to create the perimeter. Continue in this manner until you reach the center back. Repeat on the opposite side to complete the perimeter. Then, beginning at the nape, take diagonal subsection and use the perimeter as a guide to create a graduated shape. Work until you reach the occipital bone.

3
Beginning at the front parting, take diagonal subsections that end in the center back. Cut with low elevation, overdirecting the subsections back behind the ear. Use longer strokes as you work toward the center back, blending the shorter lengths with the previously cut graduated panel at the nape. Continue in this manner, alternating from side to side. Take horizontal subsections to create the fringe. Blow-dry, and refine the haircut as needed.

4
Prep the hair by liberally applying Aveda Brilliant™ Damage Control™ to damp hair. Style by applying Aveda Volumizing Tonic™ and performing a wrap-dry using a blow dryer with a nozzle attachment and a Mason Pearson brush. Straighten the hair from midlengths to ends using a flat iron. Finish by applying Aveda Light Elements™ Smoothing Fluid to your hands and smoothing the hair from midlengths to ends. Apply Aveda Air Control™ Hair Spray for hold as needed.
