Future Elements: Joico Fall/Winter 2003

Some people look at fire and they see a good way to grill a T-bone. JOICO’s International Artistic Director DAMIEN CARNEY looks at fire and he sees an intensely lit, distorted haircut that expands like a flame.

This season, Carney, along with Joico’s VeroColor System Artistic Consultant SUE PEMBERTON, turned his attention to the elements to create Future Elements for Fall/Winter 2003. They peered into bonfires, contemplated cliffs and meditated on air. To stay in touch with reality, they studied the catwalk. “It’s a futuristic feel fused with inspirations from the runway,” notes Carney, “Polished fabrics in psychedelic prints. It’s all about creating refined styles with a hard edge.” The result is one of the strongest collections we’ve seen in years, grounded in solid cutting and coloring techniques.
