Gary Manuel Renegade Luxury

Sugar and spice and everything nice.  Well, not always!  The Creative Leaders at Gary Manuel Salon take a look at the tougher side of beauty for Fall 2006.  A collection with a split personality, the Gary Manuel designers show today’s woman not only how to show off her sweeter “nice” side but also how to reveal her inner rebel.

A clash of Victorian and industrial, the Gary Manuel Renegade styles celebrate a new way to look at exaggerated hair.   Renegade Luxury introduces entry-level edginess.  The shorter Renegade bob shape has been updated with random pieces embedded inside the layers that fall below the perimeter so it can be worn with a sleek razor-sharp edge or a more demure yet sexy curly look.

Renegade Luxury is reminiscent of the bigger-is-better philosophy of the 1980’s with long, flowing tresses its key feature.   Bigger on top and narrowing toward the bottom, the cuts are punctuated with skinny pieces moving down toward the perimeter.  “Once again we have created a look that can be worn either straight or fluffy,” said Alex Lawlis, Senior Creative Leader.

Longer locks add more styling options; sometimes more controlled, other times quite the opposite.  For a more refined silhouette its dual texture is worn in two smooth chignon puffs on top nestled within a wrap of braids.  Fat fuzzy braids and overstated dreads give the cut the option for a wild time out-on-the-town.

Setting off the cuts is monodynamic color.  The salon designers aggressively used many colors within the same tonal family.  The shorter style reintroduces the idea of eggplant—gone since the 80’s.  These colors range from a very dark plum brown to various stages of light bright purple.  In the longer style the use of “musk” or gold on gold was used ranging from light and bright to dark and bronzy brown.  The coloring technique for both styles consisted of isolating large triangles within the shape highlighting the exaggeration of the cut.  The darker areas become the “negative space” giving the positive more punch.

“Every woman is a bit mischievous, even if she keeps it hidden away,” said Gary Howse, co-founder of Gary Manuel Salon.  “Our designers have created styles that are easy to wear and reflect the woman’s mood.  Long or short we show her how to marry luxury with a bit of an edge.”
