Through the media, the Awards showcase the true, creative tasteful and talent-driven nature of our industry, to the general public. It is a great night, recognizing the dedicated, supremely talented hairdressers from all areas and levels of expertise within the Australian hair industry.
The Australian Hair Fashion Awards is one of the largest and most prestigious competitions on the international hairdressing calendar. Presented by the Fellowship for Australian Hairdressing and sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional, the awards, now in their ninth year, recognize and reward the top echelon in the Australian hair fashion industry.
Judging for this competition is unlike any other hairdressing award. All entries are flown to London where they are judged by an independent panel of the UK’s foremost hairdressers. Judges are looking for a collection of photographs that reflect current hair fashions trends as well as the hairdresser’s ability, creative flair and technical expertise.
Previous winners of the coveted Australian Hairdresser of the Year title include Oscar Cullinan – Synergy by Oscar (2005), Lee Cohen – Reds Salon & Spa (2004), Mick Luppino – Luppino’s Hair, Skin & Body (2003), Adam Noble – Next Hair (2002), Phillip Barwick – Muse Hair (2001), and Shane Henning – Noddy’s on King (2000).
The Australian Hair Fashion Awards also recognize other significant contributors to Australia’s hair fashion industry, including session stylists, makeup artists and fashion photographers. Each year, Australia’s leading fashion and beauty media are invited to nominate Australia’s best in these categories. Previous winners include Brent Lawler (2005 Session Stylist of the Year), Richard Bailey (2005 Photographer of the Year), and Dotti (2005 Make Up Artist of the Year).
