Changing the Shape of Hair
Alfaparf Milano Launches New, Progressive Keratin Treatment

Alfaparf Milano, the Italian company that boasts a 30-year European heritage of solving problems for hairdressers, recently launched the newest evolution in Keratin treatments called Lisse Design (in French, “lisse” means smooth). The Formaldehyde and Paraben-free formula provides stylists and clients with greater flexibility—plus the treatment is 100% safe, in compliance with EPA and OSHA standards. Read on to learn more about the progressive, new treatment!

What makes Lisse Design different? Along with a Formaldehyde-free formula, the treatment requires less product—saving salons and clients money, the ability to color and smooth on the same day, and no wait time for the client to style their hair after the service. Additionally, the important environmental exposure evaluation tests garnered compliant results with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and for the evaluation of the limit values proposed by the American watchdog organizations OSHA and ACGIH.

What is the science behind the formula? KeraCollagen Complex combines Hydrolyzed Keratin, Quaternized Keratin and new active Glyoxylic Acid to smooth hair while eliminating frizz and fortifying the cuticle but leaving the natural resilience. The Glyoxylic Acid moves keratin bonds aside instantly under heat from a flat iron to form new alliances (like a permanent set) and fixes them in place for up to three months. This is different from traditional keratin treatments which form a tight binding around each strand, which straightens the hair – a process that typically takes three days for the binding to cure. For clients that means no coloring and no styling during that time period. The superb condition and shine in Lisse comes from Organic Babassu Oil, derived from a nut found in the Amazon. This oil ingredient contains 70% lipids to give hair supple softness with a silky finish, for smooth, no fuss manageability.

How does the service work? The process works in four short phases. First, shampoo twice with Deep Cleansing Lisse Shampoo to make sure hair is gently and completely cleansed of all products, then blast dry. Next, apply Lisse Smoothing Fluid sparingly to dry hair and comb well, working through to aid absorption and start the smoothing process; then wait 20 minutes. Then, apply Lisse Detangling Cream to porous ends, if needed, to help seal and shine and blow dry. Next, flat iron small sections at 410F to activate the smoothing formula. Finally, rinse well and apply the Lisse Rehydrating Mask to seal the treatment into the hair and ensure silky smooth results. Want to smooth away frizz and keep curl? Then simply eliminate the flat ironing stage for an even faster service option.
