Fall 2012 Red Haircolor Forecast
...prepare for a strong chance of spicy shades

If you’re an accomplished colorist, you’re also a fashion forecaster. It’s up to you to advise clients on what’s coming into view on the trend radar, and to know how to help them transition into the latest color looks. So what does the hue forecast look like for fall? Expert colorist Gina Khan provides the color outlook for redheads this fall.

The Spicy Red
The pro:
Gina Kahn, Logics International Color Spokesperson
Forecast: “Redheads will spice things up this fall with deeper dimension. Consider shades of burnt copper with hidden pieces of cinnamon and nutmeg.”
Why: “Red is such a standout color and can be worn in a variety of shades. It can be subtle or dramatic, so it appeals to a wide audience. Add a few accent pieces or go for full drama!”
What to avoid: “Anything that may strip away the lustrous color. Redheads should avoid shampooing every day, as well as sun exposure. A redhead can wet and condition every day as long as she avoids suds!”
Perfect for: Golden skin tones, pale skin tones, hazel and green eyes.
Not recommended: Clients with cool, pinkish skin tones and ruddy skin tones.
Celeb example: Poppy Montgomery

Favorite Formula:
Starting level:
4/5 (virgin hair)
At the Scalp: Logics Color Cremes 1 oz. 4RO + 1 oz. 6G + 2 oz. 20-volume generator
Midshaft and lengths: Logics Color Cremes 2 oz. 6RO + 1 oz. 4RO + 3 oz. 40-volume generator. Process at room temperature for 35 minutes. Shampoo (no conditioner) and blow-dry to 75 percent dry.
Foils (15 to 20 scattered throughout head, medium bold weave): Logics Imprints Sheer 1 oz. 6G + 1 oz. 5-volume generator
Glaze: Logics Imprints Full 2 oz. 6RO + 1 oz. 4RO + 3 oz. 10-volume generator. Apply between foils. Process at room temperature for 25 minutes.
Maintenance: When touching up reds, Gina recommends a vertical refreshing technique. “Use two different demi color formulas to refresh lengths, taking sections vertically and alternating the colors.”
