Wella Announces North American Trend Vision Winners

The world’s elite athletes are competing in the London Olympics this week, but yesterday, the world’s elite hairstylists competed at the Wella Professionals North American Trend Vision competition in Los Angeles. It was a dazzling display of coiffure virtuosity as Canadian, American and Puerto Rican pros vied in the Color, New Talent and Student categories for the honor of representing North America at the global Trend Vision Awards in Madrid in October. And so, without further ado, the winners are:

Matthew Hom, Bellus Academy, Poway, CA—Color
Kelsey Deuel, Savvy Salon and Day Spa, Cornelius, NC—Young Talent
Both Matthew and Kelsey were inspired by the “Celeste” trend, which is described as futuristic, iridescent and lit from within.

Also honored were:
Gloritza Aviles, San Juan, Puerto Rico—Student
Remi Cardin, Ode Salon Styliste, Quebec, Canada—Young Talent
Philip Ferreira, Axis Salon, Vancouver, Canada—Color
Beyond the announcement of the winners, the evening was jam-packed with excitement and entertainment. Master of ceremonies Fabio Sementilli led off the night with an introduction of Team I.C.A.N.—the winners of BTC’s RAW competition. All of the team members were in the house!

There were also presentations from the Sassoon team, led by Traci Sakosits and Richie Rivera; the Sebastian team, led by Michael Polsinelli and Anthony Cole; and Russia’s Dimitry Vinokurov.

The judging required several days of tough deliberations, but the elite panel—Sebastian stylist Thomas Dunkin; Celebrity Stylist and owner of Juan Juan Salon in Beverly Hills Jennifer J; Bruce Peters of Zazu Salon in Canada; Sebastian stylist and owner of Hollywood’s Hairroin Salon Janine Jarman and Sassoon Academy Color Director Richie Rivera—got the job done. More than 2,500 attended the event at Los Angeles Live! in L.A.
