Essie's First Flagship Salon Opens In The Big Apple
New Yorkers can now enjoy high-fashion nail care at their fingertips, thanks to Essie’s new flagship salon on 65th Street in Manhattan. The space, designed by consultant by Peter Millard, is part of the newly-renovated Samuel Shriqui salon and features a minimal, clean concept that allows the over 250 shades of Essie polish to shine.
But don't mistake minimalism for lack of luxury—each station is outfitted with couches upholstered in some of Essie's signature shades including Bahama Mama and Big Spender, and every drying station is equipped with an iPad and a state-of-the-art dryer. Guests wishing to have a relaxing Zen moment can enjoy their mani/pedi in the space’s outdoor garden. Clients of the new salon are certainly in good hands—Essie Weingarten, founder of Essie, has gotten her nails done by the lead manicurist at Samuel Shriqui for years!
When we asked Peter what it was like to work with THE Essie, he sung her praises. "I was honored to work with Essie Weingarten, the Empress of Enamel, and the woman who transformed an industry, on her first Essie salon. Her brilliance was very evident throughout the process. She could not have been more gracious in guiding me to understand her philosophy of nails as an inseparable part of fashion, and then explaining the importance of showing the full line to maximum impact in one place. She personally spent hours by herself arranging the Color Wall until it was a perfect reflection of the collection as she envisions it together. It dazzles because she made it fascinating to shop the collection. There is no one like Essie, and if I weren't a guy, I would wear her nail enamel every day for life. She is one in a billion! Is that the name of one of her colors? If not, it should be."
